Da Cruz One Man Band

Super man of music

With his contraption on his back, multi-instrumentalist David Cruz plays a total of 17 instruments in progress. The only wandering man-orchestra in Portugal, the musician surprises his audience both with the quality of the music he produces and the uniqueness of his system. The contraption was built by the musician himself in 2015 and consists of a device in which a series of simple but spectacular mechanical systems (wires, pulleys, elastics, springs,…) allow the instruments to be operated with the feet, hands, elbows and wrists.

Trov'antiga

A medieval journey

In its 46th production, Encerrado Para Obras opens a window into the world of troubadours. Performed by the company's leading actors, multi-instrumentalist David Cruz and singer Cláudia Santos, the show presents a carefully selected collection of songs from the Middle Ages.

The repertoire includes songs in various languages, most notably barbaric Latin with the music of the goliards (compositions collected in the Carmina Burana codex, a record revisited by the composer Carl Orff in the eponymous scenic cantata). These are songs of a satirical and/or erotic nature, typical of the atmosphere of taverns or brotherhoods. In addition to these themes, compositions in Galician-Portuguese are also present, namely from the Cantigas de Santa Maria songbook and compositions in Latin and Catalan from the Montserrat songbook. The repertoire also includes some traditional songs from Southern Europe, such as the theme Mosé Salió de Misraim, a Sephardic song from the 15th century, or the theme La Marcho di Rei, a theme sung in the Provençal language, or A Saia da Carolina, a popular song of Galician-Portuguese origin.

RReplicas of stringed instruments from the Middle Ages and Renaissance: Cittern, Sinfonia, Renaissance Guitar and Guiterne.

Todos ao monte e fé em Deus

Inspired in Os Contos de Fajão

The project is based on the work "Os Contos de Fajão" (The Tales of Fajão), a collection of ancestral stories characterized by biting and caricatural humor, sometimes bordering on the absurd, with a profound cultural, anthropological, and philosophical meaning that makes them truly timeless and universal.

Blending theater and music, the show recreates the peculiar atmosphere of this village lost in the mountains, presenting us with a world apart, with its own customs and traditions, where despite a certain anarchy, destiny takes care of solving all problems, restoring the natural order of life.

LENGALENGANDO

The craziest family everybody knows without even knowing it

In Lengalengando, multi-instrumentalist David Cruz and singer, dancer and flutist Cláudia Santos play the role of Mimi Fá and Zeca Sol.

Through the interpretation of popular children's songs and rhymes, these amusing characters present some of the most ridiculous members of their family, such as grandmother Felismina, who spends her days spinning, grandfather André, who has a musical instrument shop, the three Aunts Anica, who live in the Algarve, or an unsuspecting pet, a cuckoo called “Wacko”, who by the way hates cabbage.

The show is very interactive, which means that the public is invited to sing the chorus of the songs and to dance along with the balerina.
